As my work requires that I travel about 80% of the year to visit clients and attend tradeshows, my go-to garb for both work and play is ‘techwear’, and almost always in black. The combination of technical fabrics and construction allows me to move comfortably throughout the day weaving through airport terminals and crowded commutes, as well as being able to explore outdoor terrains, weather through storms, and get in a quick workout or a clubbing session. Beyond just the performance aspects of quasi-sportswear / technical fashion apparel by the likes of Nike, Acronym, and Outlier, the additional functional benefits of sportswear materials are perfectly suited for travel, including superior breathability, waterproofness, and anti-stink technology - all of which allow me to wear the clothes longer and wash them less often. Laundry nights aren’t all that fun on the road. Keeping it all black helps minimize my wardrobe as everything usually matches, even if I add in another color into the mix.
